A year of wreaths

I kind of have a thing for wreaths. Having a different one up for each occasion throughout the year is not uncommon. I blame my maw maw for this trait. I can remember her creating wreaths for literally every holiday… Valentine’s day, St Patrick’s day, Easter, Independence Day…Basically any holiday you can think of, she had a wreath for it.

My wreath collection isn’t nearly as big as hers, but it is steadily growing!

When I heard the folks at Patience Brewster were putting together a “year in wreaths” project, I was in! Patience Brewster is a one-artist company offering unique ornaments and gifts. Check out their unique handmade ornaments here if you’re curious! They’re quite adorable and oh so creative!

I was inspired to create this post compiling all of my wreaths I put together throughout the years, with the exception of one. Wreath creating makes me crafting heart happy!

Valentine’s Day wreath

Ok, I can’t take credit for this one… I actually bought it at Target two years ago at the day-after sale! I always put this one out for the month of February. But, if you’re interested in making one yourself, I’ve seen these type of wreath tutorials all over pinterest!

Spring wreath

I used a straw wreath, wrapped it in pink yarn with lots and lots of homemade fabric rosettes. I hang this wreath between the months of March and June.

Football wreath

We’re football lovers in our household and we throw the annual Super Bowl party among our friends, so I figured I needed a wreath to fit the occasion! I have a DIY post here, but these are the only things you’ll need: a foam wreath, green/white yarn, an artificial mum, and some little football themed trinkets. I’ll put this wreath out at the start of football season, remove it for Fall/Christmas and then put it out again after the New Year.

Fall wreath

This is probably my favorite wreath! I think it’s because I absolutely love fall, and I love that it’s personalized with the “H” All you’ll need is a stick wreath, artificial fall florals, craft paper, your initial, pumpkins/gourds or whatever else you might like to add when you think of fall. I put this wreath out in October through November.

Holiday wreath

I was in desperate need of a Holiday wreath when I came up with this one. It’s a hodgepodge of holly leaves, glitter berries, poinsettias, apple or two, and wrapped in jute twine. I love all the sparkle in this one! This wreath debuts once I get my Christmas tree up, which is usually right after Thanksgiving.

My next few wreaths in queue is a summer themed wreath, think 4th of July, with red, white and blue yarn. A St Patrick’s Day wreath: green, 4 leaf cloves, some sort of sparkle. A personalized everyday wreath: Chevron, H, ribbon.

I better get to crafting!

Telluride ski trip: part 1

Update coming to you from Telluride, CO! We’ve decided to take a rest day today, and say goodbye to our friends Thane and Amy, and welcome some new faces, Roy and Lauren. But before I get ahead of myself, lets backtrack to the beginning!

Friday: We arrived in the Telluride Friday afternoon with the in-laws, and met up with the sister in-law and her family and our friends Thane and Amy. We’re staying in Bear Creek Lodge, and it is absolutely gorgeous! The condo is ski in/ski out which means it is right on the mountain, making it pretty easy to just suit up and head down. The whole town looks like something out of the movies! Friday night was spent settling into our rooms and catching up with everyone.

Saturday: Valentine’s Day! We woke up bright and early at 5:45am to the most gorgeous view! I’ve never been to a more beautiful ski town than here! We’re surrounded by mountains, tucked away in the middle of a forest with ski runs on either side of us. We started the morning off by cooking a big breakfast for everyone… About 12 pieces of bacon, 12 eggs, 8 biscuits, gravy…all so good and satisfying. Once we were filled up, it was time to get dressed and head out to the mountain for our first day of skiing. It was 50+ degrees that day which made for some really warm skiing! We ended the day around 2, then hung out as a group in the condo for the rest of the night.

Sunday: Sunday was a full day of skiing. We headed out at 9:30 and skied until at least 4, with a lunch break somewhere between. By the time we finished skiing, it had started to snow and the temperature had dropped drastically since the day before. It was closer to the 30’s by the end of the day and snowing. We finished the day off by soaking our bones in the hot tub. It was glorious!

I loved this picture of Scott. Such a gorgeous day

At the end of the day, waiting for the elevator. It took us back up to the condo.

Monday: After the snow fall the night before, we were anxious to get out on the mountain to try out the freshly powdered slopes. It was much colder on Monday, and it was only getting colder as the day progressed. Amy and I decided that the hot tub and wine sounded like a much better way to spend a snowy day than freezing our butts off on multiple lifts, so we got off the mountain around 1 and headed for the hot tub. Since it was Amy and Thane’s last night, we all went out as a family to a really yummy pizza place called Brown Dog Pizza. My oh my, the reviews didn’t lie. The pizza was amazing! Plus, the company was pretty great too. :) After dinner, we ventured around the little town of Telluride and found ourselves in a few bars before making our way back home.

Today will be spent lounging around the condo, maybe a little bit of sightseeing in Telluride, followed by a nap?! Who knows… But I know my legs are happy with the idea!

Things I’m loving Friday #4

Happy Friday friends!!!

By the time you read this, I’ll be up in the air heading to Telluride, Colorado… That is definitely topping my list of things I’m loving this week! Not only will I be skiing for the next five days, but I’ll be with the Hamilton family (we’ll miss you Laura/Billy/baby Billy) and I’ll be taking a whole (much needed) week off of work. Hallelujah! So lets get right to it!

  • Visiting and skiing in Telluride, CO.

We’ve both never been skiing in Telluride, but have heard such great things. The pictures are just adorable, and the town looks so quaint. I’m anxious to vacation with the whole fam. I have a feeling we’re going to have a great time! and one whole week off of work doesn’t hurt either ;)

  • All things Valentine’s Day

Yes, I’m one of those people that loves Valentine’s day, just for the fact that the holiday is based on the celebration of L-O-V-E!! Scott and I don’t make a big deal about celebrating, but I usually pick up a little something for him and love showing him some extra love/cuddles on Valentine’s Day. Last year we were skiing during Valentine’s Day too, which I recapped here. I would totally be ok with keeping the “skiing on Valentine’s Day” tradition ;)

  • Daytime dates with maw-maw (and Smash Burger)

Every Monday I would meet up with my maw maw and we would spend the day together eating lunch, shopping around, or walking the mall. We called it maw-maw Monday and it was fabulous! I have missed those days so much since getting a M-F work schedule. Last weekend on Sunday I decided to spend the day with her. We tooled around target and kohls and stopped by a new to us place called Smash Burger for lunch. OMG it was amazing… the fries, the buns, the special sauce. We loved every bit of it and were very impressed. Definitely recommend it!

I mean seriously!? Isn’t she so adorable! Don’t tell her I posted this picture ;)

  •  Old Navy workout gear

I had 3 coupons to Old Navy that were burning a hole in my wallet that I have been holding on to since Christmas… Well the time had finally come to cash them in! I found the cutest, most flattering workout gear within the last two weeks at Old Navy! I usually don’t have high standards when it comes to workout gear because 1. I wear it to sweat in  2. Typically wears out pretty quick. You won’t see me spending $100+ on yoga pants from lululemon. #nothanks I was so impressed with the quality and price, I just had to share. I walked away with 3 of these, and a pair of these. The thing with ON is their inconsistent sizing, so be sure to try on. #oldnavyftw

  •  My first Influenster Voxbox

I signed up to be a part of the Influenster network. They send you products for review, you try them out and share your review on social media. Welp, I got my first box of goodies in the mail this week. Some name brand products and some products I’ve never hear of before. I’m really excited to try them out and share my reviews. I’m especially excited to try the L’OCCITANE Comforting Cream on my face while I’m up in Colorado. My skin always dries out a lot in high altitude, so it couldn’t have come at better time.

What are you loving this week?? I hope you have a Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
