Things I’m loving Friday #8: Fall Edition

Since Fall is my favorite season, I wanted to designate this post to a few of my favorite fall things around this time of year…

  • Cooler temperatures… Ok so this is really just wishful thinking here in Austin, but I think soon enough temps will drop and there will be a cool crispy breeze in the air, which I absolutely love!
  • Speaking of cooler temperatures…. The weather has been so much nicer lately after work, that I’ve really enjoyed rocking on my front porch and reading my kindle. Also, I found that side table for a heck of a deal and it fits perfectly in between the rockers.

  • My fall wreath and front porch fall decorations. These pumpkins were gifted to us by our Aunt Connie and I just love them!!! I’m lacking in the fall decor area, but these pumpkins… I’m proud of them! Now I just need to get to the pumpkin patch and pick up a real one. Not sure if we’ll carve it or not.

  • Fall pictures. We went out last weekend to get some pictures taken in hopes to capture a pic for our Christmas card. #operationchristmascard. I had mixed feelings about bringing the pups along since it was only about a 20 min shoot. We ended up just going, the two of us. I am still going to try and incorporate them into the card some how! Outfit selfie and a sneak peek from our photographer, Jen Stamps.

  • $5.99 mums… In Scott’s words, “Not everyday can be two dozen roses” haha Which is what he told me when he brought these flowers home. I thought that was pretty adorable. They’re also our only fall decoration at the moment. *Insert see no evil monkey emoji

  • Fall scented candles: Mmmm nothing more comforting than a yummy scented candle. Candles are just so warm and inviting to me. I need more candles in my life!

**I hope to partake in more fall festivities in the upcoming weeks. On the horizon: Bake these, visit a pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin, go to the Renaissance festival, Wurstfest in New Braunfels, order a pumpkin spice latte, carve a pumpkin, hand out candy to trick or treaters in our new neighborhood, and go to an NFL football game! Gah, I just love this season!

Things I’m loving Friday # 7

Happy Friday my friends!

It’s always fun to play along with my favorite blogger Julie, so here is another edition of Thing I’m loving Friday Brooke style.

My 27th Birthday!
This week I celebrated my 27th Birthday. It’s so hard to believe that I’m already 27 years old. All of my social media accounts are filled with weddings, house buying, babies, baby # 2’s, successful careers, and all around adulthood. It’s such a fun season of life right now. I love watching all of my friends “grow up” including myself! 26 was such a monumental year for me…for us! Buying a house has really solidified the whole “you’re getting old” thing. I’m still in disbelief that this is my life. Looking forward to more time spent with friends and family, growth, and change in my 27th year.

The start of Football season!
Fall is my favorite time of year…cooler temps and fall clothing, my favorite Holiday, Thanksgiving, but most importantly, football season! I’m a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and they really kicked off the season Sunday night with their win against the Giants in typical Cowboys fashion. Pulling a last minute win in the last minute of the game. My friend put it best… Take out your blood pressure medicine. haha so true!

Snow cone treats
We haven’t had a snow cone all summer until just recently when we discovered a snow cone stand near our house called Frozies. Scott has surprised me at home 3 different times now with my favorite flavor, tigers blood.

Birthday gifts to myself
I went into Kendra Scott with a friend to return and help pick out another piece of jewelry for her. At the time, it was September 1st, so I decided to take advantage of my 50% off one item discount. I ended up picking out the rose gold druzy necklace and am in love with it! I’ve had my eye on it for quite some time now, so I was happy to get it 50% off. I also got some more of my favorite shampoo and conditioner, Living Proof. If you have not tried this stuff, I urge you to do so! The conditioner makes my hair so smooth and soft. I love it!

A special cookie delivery from Scott for no reason
Last week, I got a call while I was at work from an unknown number. I answered the call, and they told me they were in the lobby of my office with cookies. I literally said “oh, I think you have the wrong number.” and then they confirmed that I was indeed Brooke Hamilton and that the cookies were for me. I went down to pick them up and was completely surprised! My hubby did good! I swear I ate my weight in cookies that day… I mean how can you not when they are delivered fresh and hot! Thanks chubby hubby!!!(that’s what he called himself on the delivery card)
*And since this was written, I received two other orders of cookies for my Birthday… I think I’ve met my cookie quota for life. So. many. cookies. Thanks to some sweet co-workers and our besties, Thane and Amy for the special treats!

White rocking chairs
Scott surprised me with two rocking chairs sitting on our front porch the morning of my Birthday on Wednesday. You may be thinking it’s weird of me to ask for rocking chairs for my Birthday, but they are completely adorable and they’re the perfect addition to our front porch. I realize it’s a total grandma gift, but I’m #grannyBrooke after all.

I hope you have a great weekend filled with lots of things you’re loving!

Things I’m loving Friday #6

Hello and Happy Friday everyone! Before we start celebrating the weekend, here is a short list of a few things that are making me smile on this Friday!

  • A flattering swimsuit

With summer here, a new suit is a must. And what better excuse to get a new one other than a beach vacation! The one negative about swimsuit shopping is that it’s hard/can be a downer. 1. You’re white and ashy from winter. 2. It’s a tiny piece of cloth that is supposed to give you appropriate coverage. 3. A good quality suit is expensive. 4. Age appropriate. BUT this year, I got relatively lucky and found a really adorable suit that fits all the criteria. It was fairly priced, not too young looking, and I feel comfortable in it, as in it’s not too low and it covers my ass. That’s a win in my book. If you’re looking for a quality suit too, I recommend Dillard’s! Ton of selection for all sorts of sizes and styles.

  • Swimsuit cover up

On the topic of swimsuits, a swimsuit cover up is necessary for summer as well. Target wins once again… Target does not have the best swimsuit options(<-super funny open letter to target swimsuit buyer), but cover ups, they got it going on. I found this adorable mint cover up for $20 bucks. They have 4 different colors to pick from too.

  • House on the market

If you missed my post yesterday, I wrote about our final house update before it is listed on the market. It’s actually being listed today(!!!). I’m really excited to see what kind of attention it will get, and hear feedback from people! Crossing my fingers that we get a lot of interest! A few have asked about where we are looking or if we have looked at any houses. In this market, we can’t really do serious searching until our house is under contract. We need to be able to put in an offer right away if we come across a winner while looking at houses. If we were to start looking now, they most likely will not be available when we are ready to put in an offer. As far as where we are looking… Everywhere! Our commute is flexible, which makes location a tad bit harder to narrow down. We’ve told each other the location will just depend on the right house. We’re willing to move where ever that may be. But mostly looking in Southwest Austin, Northwest Austin, Anderson Mill. Top priorities: nice size yard, community, good schools, updated house, and trees. Wish us luck!

  • Carry on suitcase and Gym bag

For some reason here lately, I have become apprehensive about checking my bag while flying and have opted to only use a carry on when possible. I have never lost a bag when traveling, but the thought of it never arriving to my vacation destination just doesn’t sound like a fun time. And if I can avoid that, then I will! I found a great suitcase on Amazon, of course, that fit my needs perfectly. After reading a few reviews, and picking out a fun color, I ordered it and it arrived two days later! On the subject of bags, I have been looking for a nice sized, not too big, not too small gym bag for quite some time and I finally struck gold when I went to Sam Moon earlier this month. It was really affordable and exactly what I was looking for. It will also double as my personal bag when I travel.

  • Amazon Prime Music

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to the pre-made playlists on amazon prime music. Have you heard of the pure awesomeness that is Amazon Prime Music?? You can listen to playlists, create your own playlists, skip songs without any punishment, add songs to your music library, download songs onto your mobile device and listen (even on airplane mode)…. I’m telling you! Prime music is a game changer! To get access to prime music, you have to be a prime member. It won’t work if you’re a shared prime member though, you have to be the prime account holder. #iloveamazon

  • Denali

To end my list, this video. A beautiful, heartbreaking man’s tribute to his dog, Denali. An incredible story that is a must see. Just be sure to watch when you’re in the comfort of your own home because you will cry.
