Happy 2nd Birthday Melvin!

Today is Melvin’s second Birthday! That’s 14 in human years…I love my little teenager!

Last night we had some family over, so I decided to celebrate his birthday a little early. Melvin and Mac didn’t argue with that decision!

Later today he’ll get a few new toys to share with Mac, more cake and frosty paws ice cream! It’s pretty hilarious celebrating your dogs Birthday, but I’m not ashamed! It’s fun for both of us.

Also, I want to include the recipe for the dog friendly cake if anyone is needing ideas. I got the recipe here but ended up doubling it for a thicker cake. This is what you need:

2 cups flour

2 tsp baking soda

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup applesauce(I used unsweetened)

2 tsp vanilla

2/3 cup honey

2 eggs

Mix all ingredients together and pour into greased round cake pan. Bake at 350 for about 25 min.

I used peanut butter and green dye for the “icing” and placed milk bones around the cake.

The dogs LOVE IT! I’ll call it a success.

Spiced honey pretzels

These pretzels are great for snacks at parties, get togethers, girls nights, etc. It has the perfect amount of sweet and spice. They only take 10 min and most ingredients you should have already!!!

What you need:

  • 4 cups pretzel sticks
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder

Directions:

  1. Line baking sheet with foil and spray with nonstick spray. Place pretzels in large bowl.
  2. In small bowl combine honey, butter, onion powder, and chili powder. Pour over pretzels and toss to coat evenly. Spread in one layer on baking sheet.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 8  min. Once cool, stir gently to separate.

Green bean casserole

I always get so many compliments on my green bean casserole recipe and figured I’d share it here! It’s quite simple and easily one of my favorite dishes at Thanksgiving. Actually, I eat it all year long!

Ingredients:

  • 4 cans of cut green beans
  • 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup(1 can water)
  • 1 can french fried onions
  • 2 tbsp of Nature’s seasoning (or more depending on taste)

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F. Spray cooking dish with non stick spray.

Step: Drain green bean. Mix green beans, cream of mushroom soup, 1 can of water, seasoning, and half can of french friend onions.

Step 3: Cook for 1 hour. At the 30 min mark, add the rest of the french fried onions to the top.

This recipe is a crowd pleaser for sure!
