Scott agreed to do a fall mini photo shoot with me back in October in preparation for our Christmas card. We don’t get our picture taken very often so when there is an opportunity, I kind of have to take it! This year we met up with Jennifer at Circle C park for a quick sunset photo shoot. Scott couldn’t have been happier with how fast the shoot was, which is a good thing for a husband that is already reluctant to color coordinate and take pictures. Since the shoot was only about 20 min, we decided not to bring our puppies, but instead, I snapped a couple of pics in our backyard and called it done. Don’t worry, we were still able to include our fur babies in our card!

A year of wreaths

I kind of have a thing for wreaths. Having a different one up for each occasion throughout the year is not uncommon. I blame my maw maw for this trait. I can remember her creating wreaths for literally every holiday… Valentine’s day, St Patrick’s day, Easter, Independence Day…Basically any holiday you can think of, she had a wreath for it.

My wreath collection isn’t nearly as big as hers, but it is steadily growing!

When I heard the folks at Patience Brewster were putting together a “year in wreaths” project, I was in! Patience Brewster is a one-artist company offering unique ornaments and gifts. Check out their unique handmade ornaments here if you’re curious! They’re quite adorable and oh so creative!

I was inspired to create this post compiling all of my wreaths I put together throughout the years, with the exception of one. Wreath creating makes me crafting heart happy!

Valentine’s Day wreath

Ok, I can’t take credit for this one… I actually bought it at Target two years ago at the day-after sale! I always put this one out for the month of February. But, if you’re interested in making one yourself, I’ve seen these type of wreath tutorials all over pinterest!

Spring wreath

I used a straw wreath, wrapped it in pink yarn with lots and lots of homemade fabric rosettes. I hang this wreath between the months of March and June.

Football wreath

We’re football lovers in our household and we throw the annual Super Bowl party among our friends, so I figured I needed a wreath to fit the occasion! I have a DIY post here, but these are the only things you’ll need: a foam wreath, green/white yarn, an artificial mum, and some little football themed trinkets. I’ll put this wreath out at the start of football season, remove it for Fall/Christmas and then put it out again after the New Year.

Fall wreath

This is probably my favorite wreath! I think it’s because I absolutely love fall, and I love that it’s personalized with the “H” All you’ll need is a stick wreath, artificial fall florals, craft paper, your initial, pumpkins/gourds or whatever else you might like to add when you think of fall. I put this wreath out in October through November.

Holiday wreath

I was in desperate need of a Holiday wreath when I came up with this one. It’s a hodgepodge of holly leaves, glitter berries, poinsettias, apple or two, and wrapped in jute twine. I love all the sparkle in this one! This wreath debuts once I get my Christmas tree up, which is usually right after Thanksgiving.

My next few wreaths in queue is a summer themed wreath, think 4th of July, with red, white and blue yarn. A St Patrick’s Day wreath: green, 4 leaf cloves, some sort of sparkle. A personalized everyday wreath: Chevron, H, ribbon.

I better get to crafting!

Things I’m loving Friday #2

I’m back with things I’m loving Friday. I got this idea from PBfingers… I love reading and playing along with her weekly Friday updates so here is my second installment of things I’m loving!

  • Christmas is less than 1 week away

I honestly can’t believe Christmas is less than a week away! I’m so so excited to have time off work, and lounge around with family for a couple of days. We’ll be staying in Austin and visiting with my dads side and then my mom on Christmas Eve. Then we’ll spend Christmas morning with the Hamiltons. So looking forward to it!

I was gifted a set of shampoo and conditioner for my Birthday, and I have to say this stuff rocks! It makes my hair feel weightless and so soo smooth! and it smells amazing! I also picked up a few products(<-this stuff right here, tho!) in their Restore line and it has transformed my hair! My hair dresser was actually commenting on my hair during my last appointment, that it’s the healthiest it has been in quite some time. And my hair has gone through the wringer going from brunette back to my blonde roots.

this song. THIS SONG! I find my self humming to this song and blasting it in the car when it comes on the radio! It’s one of my favorites right now and just puts me in a great mood! Supposedly it’s the leading hit song in Czech Republic… who knew?!

  • Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have had such an amazing season this year(10-4!!) and they’ve made things rather fun for the fans! We’re actually heading to Dallas this weekend for the big game against the Colts(10-4). It should be a good one! I was reminded by timehop this morning that I was there just 4 years ago to this very day!

ClassPass has enabled me to try a bunch of different classes that I probably never would have tried without my pass. It’s a much more affordable option to try multiple classes at several different studios, without buying a membership at each studio. I’ve already maxed out my 3 classes at dancers shape, but I’m #ontothenextone! I’ll be trying ModFitness barre class later today, which I’m very much looking forward to. I’ll be sad when my pass ends on Jan 2nd :(

  • Holiday tins filled with popcorn

It’s more of a love/hate relationship with these things. I know that the popcorn is terrible for you, but it’s just so irresistible. A vendor treated us with a couple of tins at work, and I may have gone back for thirds #oops
