Barbecue spatula + bottle opener

Over the weekend, we drove out to my dad’s place to celebrate Father’s Day with him. We had planned to grill out at the lake, but temperatures were around 97 degrees, which was just too hot for grilling outside! We opted to grill at home first and then make our way down to the park.

It was the perfect opportunity to bust out our stainless steel barbecue spatula from Cave Tools. Burgers and hot dogs were on the menu for lunch, so the spatula came in handy.

Spatula perks:

  1. The spatula is very well made and is heavy duty. Perfect for flipping burgers or even brisket!
  2. Easy clean up. The spatula is stainless steel, so it is dishwasher safe! #wifeapproved
  3. Has a built in bottle opener!!! Perfect for house parties or tailgating in the fall(one of my all time favorite events).
  4. The spatula has one serrated edge, making it super easy to half your patties.
  5. Easy to store hook.

This product is perfect for the man or grill master in your life. My husband really loves how sturdy and easy it is to use. It has a very long handle so it keeps your knuckle hair safe. He also likes that it has a bottle opener built into it. If he has to be outside grilling, at least he’s got easy access to his brews. :)

You can find this barbecue spatula on Amazon HERE or on the Cave Tools website HERE. Cave Tools is also offering 15% off your order with the code SPATULA15.

Happy Grilling!!!

Barbecuing with the FlipKabob

I’m back again to share a brilliant, new tool in the BBQ world,

The FlipKabob

If you’ve ever grilled shish kabobs, you know how much of a pain it can be to flip them once they’re on the grill… Well, Flipkabob is here to make life a whole lot easier!

With summer here, shish kabobs are a staple. They’re quick, easy and feed a lot of people. Thanks to FlipKabob, I was able to try it out in return for my honest review.

I decided to try out the Flipkabob and grill some shish kabobs for a couple of friends before a day out on the lake. Steak, handful of shrimp, peppers and mushrooms were my ingredients of choice this time. We prepped and marinated everything the night before, which made things incredibly easy.
The flipKabob is actually sold as a set, which includes a wide-set, wood-grain tong and six stainless steel skewers. I found that the tongs work with other skewers too, which is nice if you’re grilling a lot of kabobs!
We grilled ours on a charcoal grill for about 4 min each side. This is where I found the most benefit from the Flipkabob. I used the tongs to transfer the kabobs on and off the grill and they worked perfectly. No need to use gloves or sacrifice your fingers. When it came time to flip, there was no lost food, no spiraling out of control, and most notably, no burnt hands! The handles are long, which keeps you away from the heat and the food was cooked evenly on both sides. Once you get the hang of it, it’s very easy to maneuver.

BBQ cook off

This weekend was all about the BBQ! Scott traveled to Round Rock, smoker in tow,  for his first ever BBQ cook off competition!

Wow, was it a lot of work, but boy was it good! The team members turned in chicken, ribs, and brisket. Chicken took home 10th place, while the ribs and brisket just won our bellies. I was definitely satisfied with how everything turned out. I even gave Scott the OK for us to join another cook off some time! ;)

It was great experience for Scott, and his brisket was definitely the BEST brisket he has ever made! He did a salt/pepper rub on one, and his own rub on another… Both VERY tasty. I’m salivating as I type this actually.

The show wasn’t over… It was 6 o’clock, actually I had no idea what time it was, but I knew it was time for the award ceremony. I did what any wife would do… embarrassed my husband in front of hundreds of people by awarding him with a homemade trophy for his grilling skillz…Sorry husband!
