Truth be told, I was suffering from a small case of the Mondays yesterday, which put a damper on my spirit. I wanted this day to feel special and to be able to celebrate our Anniversary, but getting through the mundane work day was really killing my vibe.
Once Scott picked me up from work and we were off to our first destination, I was starting to feel a little bit more like myself.
We rolled up to a neighborhood bar called The Wheel, which turned out the be the cutest little place! It was just off East MLK, so it was a short drive for us.
I had the Ashley, subbed Hendricks gin, which was quite good considering I’m not one to drink gin. Scott had the Avery and the Madison, both whiskey drinks. They also offer a good deal for whiskey on the rocks for each day of the week, if you’re a whiskey drinker…
We had reservations for dinner at Contigo at 6:30, so once our thirst was quenched, we made our way over to Manor road. We were pretty surprised by the amount of people out on a Monday night… The place was packed! They whole restaurant is outside seating, with benches and picnic table style. I thought it was really cute! And the weather cooperated, so it was a really nice evening. We shared a glass of wine and a few pigs in a blanket before ordering dinner.
Scott ordered the rabbit & dumplings and I ordered the roasted chicken…Out of the two, Scott’s choice definitely won! It was SO tasty… Something about the gravy sauce and the shredded meat with the dumplings. Perfect combo! The chicken dish was nothing to write home about. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t compare to the rabbit haha It was the perfect proportion for me though.
In true Brooke and Scott fashion, we stopped at DQ for dessert before heading home to watch our wedding video and exchange gifts.
The traditional Anniversary gift for year 2 is cotton. This year I got Scott a cotton shirt(similar) and shorts outfit and new bed sheets. I also framed a two dollar bill in the shape of an origami heart, honoring our 2nd Anniversary because supposedly money is made out of 75% cotton and 25% linen fibers. I thought I was being very clever with my $2 gift! And the fact that a $2 bill is rare, just like the love we have for each other…cheeeeesy ;)
Scott went above and beyond for my cotton gift. He bought me a beautiful dress from Anthropologie. I was really surprised by it. I tried it on immediately and it fit! But the dress has pleats in the front near the waist that made it puff out near my mid section, looking a bit frumpy. I’m afraid I’ll have to take it back, but it was a great effort on his part! He agreed to go with me and help pick something else out.
Cheers to many more Anniversary celebrations with my love!!!
