…Only 3 weeks late :)
It’s going to be a long one. You’ve been warned :)
Our trip to Cancun was booked just two weeks before take off. We wanted to vacation before Scott stated his new job at the beginning of August. I read a lot of reviews before deciding to book with Secrets: The vine through cheapcaribbean.com. WOW, What an incredible hotel! We only wanted a true all-inclusive meaning food and premium alcohol was included. I was so impressed from the moment I walked out of our cab and up to the glass doors of the hotel. They greeted us with warm towels to dab off our nasty travel hands and walked us over to get us checked in. The definition of luxury for sure!
I was blown away with how beautiful this hotel was! I really did feel like we were on a second honeymoon. Everything I read about this place was true! The ratio of staff to guests seemed to be 2:1 and everyone was so helpful and friendly. We felt welcome! Also…what people say in reviews about the “timeshare” presentation is true. They do try to get you to sit through a presentation, and they will offer you hotel coupons or credits towards excursions. Just kindly decline. You won’t want to waste a full morning of vacation time on some weird presentation.
We had some time to kill before our room was ready so we toured the hotel and ate a fresh seafood lunch. Vacation had officially started!!
Our room reminded me of our stay at Kimber modern for our Anniversary. Very modern and user friendly…and the views! To the right was the lagoon and looking left was the ombre beach. It was gorgeous!
Each day a little newsletter would be delivered with that days activities. Things like beach boot camp, spinning, poolside bingo, beach or pool volleyball, dance lessons, etc. They really emphasized on getting the guests involved. I did a little bit of each, but mostly relaxed either beachside or poolside. Just to hit on a few things we did each day…I’m going to try to remember things in chronological order.
- Beach boot camp
- Scuba practice in the pool
- Frozen tropical drinks poolside
- Scott goes cave diving
- Dinner at Dragon-The best restaurant at our hotel in our opinion
- Brooke has a day at the beach, reading Me Before You (<<SO good), while Scott dives
- Morning walk on the beach
- Brooke and Scott go SCUBA together!
- Evening karaoke night-we didn’t participate
- Scott and Brooke morning at the beach
- A mock cirque du soleil performance, which was amazing
- Renting a “speed boat” and taking it out to snorkel on the reef. Classic
I can’t rave enough about our experience in Cancun. I’m already trying to convince the family to take tropical trip together next year! How much fun would that be?!
